Haleigh has been in awe of nature's intricacies and treasures since they were putting rocks in their mouth as a wee toddler. (Yum, geology!) They studied Environmental Science and Soil Science at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.
Haleigh has been foraging for mushrooms for 8 years, and has a myriad of experiences tutoring and teaching science, working as a researcher, hiking and camping all over Turtle Island and digging up information on anything that catches their eye.
Haleigh holds a Level 2 Track & Sign Certification through CyberTracker. They facilitate Tracking Club meetings, survey rare plants with the DNR's PlantWatch program, participate in the Natural Heritage Advisory Committee and bank all these volunteer hours through the Minnesota Master Naturalist program.

Wide Eyed Outside is a container for passions: workshops, events and zines. Haleigh is overjoyed to use this platform to connect and create with an amazing community.

Haleigh is driven by curiosity in the way they navigate the world, and enjoys sharing that curiosity and the answers they uncover. Watching others experience joy from learning motivates Haleigh to offer workshops on mushroom foraging and natural dyeing, as well as tours of the local Quaking Bog.

WEO aims to build community and to provide accessible educational opportunities and space for people to think about how they interact with the world.
